Lumino completes testing of novel Optical Ground Station technologies for Satellite Optical and Quantum Communications

Lumino Technologies, a UK company specialising in free space quantum and optical communications, today participated in the final review of the UK Research and Innovation funded Towards a Quantum Enabled Cloud (T-QEC) project.

Lumino progressed the development of technology to achieve low Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) production-compatible optical ground stations (OGS) for satellite space-to-ground quantum and optical communications. A populated OGS telescope head unit, integrating multiple novel technologies was designed, manufactured, assembled, integrated and tested.

The work was performed as part of the T-QEC project, which more generally advanced quantum-safe encryption technologies for satellite-based communication networks, helping to ensure robust data security in the long term.

The work aligns closely with Lumino’s vision of building scalable, secure infrastructure for global satellite free-space optical and quantum communications.
